Follow our own Dr. Khoi Le and Dr. Charlie Shaeffer to Southeast Asia
At Desert Cardiology Center, patient education and community service are an integral component of our commitment to excellence in patient care. Follow our own Dr. Khoi Le and Dr. Charlie Shaeffer as they return to Southeast Asia to volunteer their cardiovascular care knowledge and services.
Dr. Khoi Le will first travel to Vientiane, Laos where he will visit the Lao-Luxembourg Heart Institute. Dr. Charlie Shaeffer will meet with patients and resident physicians and cardiologists at the Bach Mai Hospital in Hanoi, Vietnam. Bach Mai is familiar to Dr. Shaeffer from prior missions in 2000 and 2002 with Drs. Khoi Le and Barry Hackshaw. It was at Bach Mai hospital in 1997 that Dr. Le worked as a member of the first team to implant a coronary stent in Vietnam.
Drs. Le and Shaeffer have been invited to join an international faculty at the upcoming 17th ASEAN Congress of Cardiology to be held in Hanoi from October 18 through 21st. Dr. Le will be performing a live demonstration of coronary angioplasty/stenting and both he and Dr. Shaeffer will lecture and serve on expert discussion panels.
Following the convention, Drs. Le and Shaeffer will travel to the Hoan My hospital in Ho Chi Minh City where Dr. Le will perform another demonstration case and Dr. Shaeffer will lecture on coronary artery disease.
